ABOUT ME!
Hello! I am Uta Hagen! I was born on June 12, 1919, in Germany. I was cast early on in my life as Ophelia and proceeded to act in many other shows and productions. Now I am an American actress and theatre practitioner, as well as an acting teacher, best known for my books, "Respect for Acting", and "A Challenge for the Actor". My method acting is mainly based on putting the actor in the shoes of their character through a series of questions and the substitution technique. I later died in 2004 but for the sake of this blog, I'm still alive.
My goal for this blog is to share my acting method with any actor or performer out there. By connecting with a character, an actor can perform at a whole new level and provide a thorough understanding of their role.
My method is used by actors such as: Whoopi Goldberg, Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino, etc.
